From my limited understanding, an ultrasound

is not very useful in determining the extent of PSC

since the intrahepatic duct are extremely difficult

to visualize. The first test my family doctor ordered

when he discovered high LFT's was an ultrasound.

They told me I had fat on my liver after that test.

Later, when an MRCP was done, they basically said that

this was incorrect, and that what they saw was

actually " pools of bile " in my liver from PSC.

Ultimately, that tells me that an ultrasound does

not really give much information on PSC.

Someone else may totally disagree, but I have never been

ordered for an ultrasound after referral to

my hepatologist. He said that he does not believe the

MRCP is all that accurrate outside of an initial

diagnoses either. My MRCP apparrently did not note

that I had a 5cm sctricture in my common bile duct

that they later found in an ERCP,go figure.

I do not know what " prominence " means on the MRI results, sorry.

It may be that the fact that area shows up more on the scan means

something, but I do not know. I hope this helps a little.
