Suzi,

We all have the things that pile up, and some constant pain in one

area or another, whether mild or accute. For me though, the worst

part is the flair ups. I am OK most of the time, with a low level of

pain that is fairly easily handled. I even have a number of days when

all I feel is a very mild discomfort, not bad enough to call pain.

The trigger for my flair-ups is usually stress, and the flair-ups can

be anything from a mild increase in pain, to migraines, cramping,

tremors, total fatigue, even anxiety attacks that are really scary to

those around me (not to mention scaring the heck outof myself).

The worst part though, is the total lack of good solid information.

If I could only know what to expect, I think I could deal with it all

better when it happens. One day I can feel almost " normal " and can

handle a great deal both physicaly and emotionaly, and another, I

can't even carry on a decent conversation and make my feelings

plainly felt, because I can feel the FM starting to flair and I have

to keep backing off (especialy frustrating when the topic is FM, and

how to deal with it, lol).

I guess that we all just have to keep on keeping on, and hang in

there till someone figures out what causes all this, and how.

flare is when things are hurting really bad, but I wonder.. do any

of you ever have pain free days? I haven't had a pain free day in

too many years to count. It's always something. My feet have been

in constant and horrible pain ranging on the pain scale from 0-10

every day since 1998. The only time I don't feel pain in my feet is

the few hours at the beginning of the day after I have been up awhile

and before I have been on my feet for a few hours. I can't stop

walking or stand in one spot without them hurting bad and if I sit

down or lie down ever I get shooting pains and cramps in my feet. On

top of the feet I have had a constant neck and shoulder thing going

on and it pretty much just jumps between the 2 sides.

ignore it. What has drove me to start investigating all of this is

that I guess I am in what you all are calling a flare. The pain is

getting worse and everything I deal with is piling on all at once

instead of just having 1 or 2 places hurting at one time.

-Yes I do have pain free times, in fact most of the time I am fairly

pain free. I cant imagine having bad pain most of the time. I had one

bad flare. I woke up in Nov. and could not lift up out of bed. The

pain was in my shoulder blade. It lasted for 2 months. My husband

knew where to massage due to the knots in my muscles. The doc gave me

flexeril for flares but they do not help. I generally always have

mild neck pain sometimes bad neck pain. I also had the very sore

stiff feeling middle finger for a few months. Generally my major

symptom is fatigue and not sleeping well.
