Guest guest
I am not sure how to help my wife. We have been married over 31 years and she is having a problem dealing with the idea that I will need a transplant. I truly am at a loss as to how to help her through this. What has not helped is a longtime friend of ours lost her husband to liver disease 6 years ago. She has been my rock since 1996 when I was first diagnosed with UC, then 4 days in the ICU (2003) followed by 10 days in the hospital to find out I had PSC. Colon Removal in 2003 with J-pouch and the slow advance of the PSC. With the progression of the PSC, especially the lack of energy, our lifestyle has changed a lot. The results of my November liver biopsy showed I had entered Stage 4 and have been referred to the University of Minnesota for TRX Evaluation has been just too much for her. Next week I have three days scheduled at the U – the first day beginning at 6:30am and ending at 3pm. I would like her there with me but she claims she cannot miss the classroom – she is a special ed teacher. I believe she just cannot deal with it. What I am looking for is a support group for her that can help her deal with what I am putting her through. Any ideas?
