Guest guest
My friend, , got emergency custody of her 2 grandchildren. The kids were in danger at home, and had to be removed, yesterday, from their mother because of her failure to protect them. I'm wondering if any of you might have clothing that your children have outgrown that you would be willing to send her. She also could use help with decorations for the Christmas tree that a friend is going to buy them, and possibly gifts for the children (and even for her!!) Even if you could simply add them to your Christmas card list!! I'm sure the kids would love it. (She did find a bag of stuff she bought on clearance after last Christmas, that had stockings for the kids, and some X-mas books, and the social worker took her to get some clothes for the kids, yesterday, but that's about it.) is on Social Security Disability because of Fibromyalgia and a ruptured disk in her back, so she is on a fixed income, and it'll be a bit before she can get set u with additional financial help for the kids. Her grandson, H, is 5 years old and wears a size 5/6. Her granddaughter, S, is 3 years old and wears a 3T. Anything anyone can do to help would be SO appreciated!!! If you are willing/able to help out, please email me, and I will give you her mailing address. Thank you SOO much!!Ami Ami - Migraines, FMS mom to - 10 yrs - Double Lung Tx 2/26/2006, PSC - Tx 7/16/2007, Diabetes, Hypothyroid, GERD, ADHD, Osteopenia http://caringbridge.org/visit/seanfox mom to Emma - 14 yrs - Migraines stepmom to - 15 yrs - ADHD, ODD ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~
Guest guest
I don't have any extra stuff (my stepdaughter is much older) but I will keep her in my prayers. We were in a similar situation a year ago. My brother's 4 children were removed from their home for neglect (parents are alcoholics). We took them and had 3 of them for 15 months. The other had such severe behavioral problems we had to have him removed after 4 months. Turns out he's bipolar. Since he's been on meds he's a totally different child. They went home in September. Have her check local churches. Is the 5 year old in school yet? A lot of times the schools have an angel tree sort of thing where people will adopt the children in a family and buy them gifts. My nieces & nephew & stepdaughter got a boatload of presents last year because of the generosity of strangers. We're going to donate this year. Anyway, those are 2 places I would check into. Were the children removed by Child Protective Services? If so, your friend should be able to contact their case manager about any options that may be available although if it's anything like the state of Indiana, there is very little assistance available for kinship care. We got our foster license and that helped a lot. We were going to continue doing foster care until I found out that I'm pregnant. We don't really have any extra room in our house now. I will keep your friend and her grandchildren in my prayers.
