Guest guest
Thank you so much, everyone, for your good thoughts and prayers!! Even though I normally don't have the time to post much, I read here everyday, and your concern means so much to me. It really helped last night to be able to come here and not feel so alone. The dr. says he was very, very lucky -- that he used one of his 9 lives last night. (I really didn't think about *how* bad it could have been until he said that.) Stan was working on a tractor and hopped off where the big wheels are -- but he forgot that there was the big steel hub sticking out (where a 2nd wheel would go). He hit his tailbone on the hub and then isn't sure what he hit his head on. The dr. did all the reflex tests, etc. and everything is fine. The dr. said that Stan cracked one of the thickest parts of the skull -- one that is pretty hard to crack. And for him to have no problems from it is very lucky. He does have a little bit of bleeding underneath, but he wasn't concerned about it. So they have him on a morphine drip for the pain, and he will probably come home tomorrow -- with a major headache, for a while, but should recover completely. So, I came home to take a nap -- I told Stan today that he really stressed my adrenals!! I'm going to pick up the boys and head back in. We've had so many offer to help with chores and with the boys, and so many thoughts of concern both from this site and from here. It helps so much!! Thank you again!! Debbie > Just checked in, myself, before tucking in. So sorry to hear of your hubby's accident. So glad you are healing so you can be present for your DH. Rest when you can, too. Please, add my prayers for your husband's speedy recovery, Debbie. > > ... > > > ----- Original Message ----- > I just got home from the > hospital where they have him in ICU to watch him overnight. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Just wanted to pass along what happened to me. On 1-16-03 I was driving to work and the next thing I know I was waking up in a hospital. This girl broadsided me on the drivers side door and I had a serious head injury. I as bleeding on my brain. They kept me overnight in the neurological ICU. I had 2 CT scans in the hospital and got released the next day. I did have bad headaches for a couple of weeks. Fast forward to now. Every now and than I will get headaches. And I still have insomnia. BUT my short term memory is shot. The neurologist says that the headaches, insomnia and memory problems are permanent and were caused by the accident. I didn't have that much blood on my brain. I would suggest very strongly that your husband find a neurologist. Also get copies of his medical information from the hospital. Anytime you have a head injury it's serious. (And now he has to be even more careful about not getting another head injury.) Louise who hates my memory!!! > > > The dr. did all the reflex tests, etc. and everything is fine.
