Guest guest
Thursday 12th MarchWell, can anyone tell me if having a PICC line inserted on Friday 13th is bad luck??? I hope not!The proverbial has hit the fan today, with a visit to the Mater hospital (my private dr). I went along as usual for my IVIG, and Dr Morton had received my scope results fro Monday's little adventure. I wont go into more details about Monday, same as any old colonoscopy only worse I'm sure if you happen to have cmv colitis too!!! The results showed the cmv (which is a virus) is throughout my digestive system, and he was furious that the transplant team hadn't picked it up sooner, that they had had me on tablets twice, which was enough to suppress it a bit, but not kill it, thus making it more immune to treatment. The long and the short of it is that he has rung the transplant head, and got permission to insert a PICC line (which threads into a larger vein than a normal canula, and into the heart), and I'm having 3 weeks of DAILY iv meds. It also means overnight in the Mater tomorrow night to have the first two doses! Thus the end of a promising tennis career! I figure I could probably play with the picc line in, and strap the pump to my body, but having to go into the hospital every morning to have the pump recharged wrecks that possibility. Anyway, I'm a bit disappointed in it all, and the kids are being really nice to me, and I guess I just keep on rolling. Our plans for walking in the Relay for Life are still on track. The website can be found if you Google Relay For life. We are walking in the Ipswich one, in a team called 'Ipswich Girls' Grammar School team 1' if anyone wishes to sponsor us. Stacey has raised the most, being the smarty pants who gave out 'how to donate slips' to all the family!! Always fun in the house,Love Penny Tps thanks to all the blood donors out there, I had 2 units of your best this afternoon, and now feel great. Never had blood before, except in transplant which I don't remember!
