Subject-line explanation.....

Okay to help clarify stuff.....

We are NOT saying the members have to follow the rule to a " T " all we

are asking if for members, moderators, owners to try to. It is just

to try to help members who read the messages in digest form, etc.

When people forget to remove most of the email that they are replying

to it just makes for a very long email and takes up more space in a

person email box. But then again there are times you go and read

something and you don't know what the person is replying to because

the previous message has been completely deleted so for those of us

with lupus fog (memory problems) we can get a bit confused...

It is nice to have, but alot of times everyone forgets including

myself but we don't get mad/upset etc. I mean no one is perfect. We

are NOT saying you can not reply without following our suggested rule

so if you forget, well you forget - no one is going to come slap your

hand, etc. or get reprimanded.

When this suggestion was written we (the owners) had been getting

several complaints from members saying their email boxes where

getting full fast etc. or that the digest were too long etc., and

asked us to do something about it, so we said we would " try " then

after we implemented the guideline, we had members complain and get

confused or just stop posting because they didn't understand it and

thought if they did it wrong they would get in trouble - so we (the

owners) decided to just let it be - if you remember to do it, great,

if you don't well that is fine too. I hope I am making sense.

As for Micha's question as to why do people post with only a name in

the subject-line - well I can't speak for everyone else but for me -

If I put " " in the subject line - it is referring that the

message is mostly for or directed towards - if other members

want to read it - that's fine, if other members want to reply to it,

that's fine - I don't have anything to hide - and if I did not want

anyone else but to read it then I would send it to her

personal email box.

Hope this helps explain things...

I have left Micha's entire email below so other members can see what

I am referring to.

> Yes, it helps, also to get more ideas on ways of posting until now.

> For example, if I only would like to comment

> on what you wrote about jokes, I could put your name in the subject-

line and put something in the subject-line like " re: / subject-

line for jokes " . Can't I?

> Why do people post with only a name in the subject-line? If,

there's a reason to it.

> Perhaps, just one of these things that although not endorsed, but

gets a silent rule to some.

> At least, the main ideas are clear to me and I know I can keep on

posting like I'm used to, like on other lists too.
