Hi Annie

First of all, let me say you did a very good job of describing your

situation and everyone here understands what you are saying, I believe that

all of us have been thru the negative words and feelings from our family and

friends. When I was first diagnosed with all these things, I tried to tell

people what I was feeling, how the doctors say I was going to be feeling but

most of them shrugged their shoulders, not understanding so I decided to do

a little research. There are booklets out there that give you a basic

outline of Fibro, CFS and others but I found some good articles over the

internet also. Just search for the subject you want to find. You will find

lots of links. What I was trying to find was " what is fibromylagia? " , " what

can be done for fibromylagia? " , I even searched for " How to tell your peers

about your illness? " I opened up a word processing page and did a lot of

copying and pasting from different sites. I put together many short

paragraphs about different subjects. I put this on my coffee table, several

copies in fact and the friends and family that really cared could read it.

If any of them ask me, I would refer them to the paper on the table. I am

also a believer that when people are asking you " how you feeling " , most of

them are just making conversation so I always reply with " I am just taking

it one day at a time " It has made a difference.

Another suggestion is to try and find a fibro support group in your area.

That way you can speak to people face to face about how you and them are

feeling. Hearing others experience can be so very helpful in dealing with

your own.

I am sorry your peers are reacting the way they are but I believe educating

them is the best way to handle it. You dont need the undo stress.

Gentle Hugs

Hi Sherry,

Thank you for the advise. It's greatly appreciated. I am trying to educate

them however they say to me that they are already educated. My thing is if

that were the case then they wouldn't be so ignorant. Oh well, I like you

said Sherry " one day at a time " .

I truly agree!

Soft hugs,

Annie C.
