Guest guest
Ha, ha ...I'm back from my doctor's appt. Yesterday I said I was making the appt. at the local " bandaid " station to try and get some blood work done. I thought some more current tests (and the CORRECT tests) would shed some light on things for me. Well, as I suspected... 1) he said TSH is how " they " determine if someone has thyroid problems, and he really only was willing to do TSH, until I broke him down after 45 min. of " training " 2) he wouldn't do the Ferritin...because, afterall your iron level has nothing to do with your thyroid function (hmmmm) 3) he claimed that insurance would probably not cover T3, T4 and thyroid antibodies...and after I worked him over some more, he agreed to the Free T3 & T4. After pressing him further about the other tests, he broke down and said that the reason he won't test is because you have to have a diagnosis for the ins. co. to make pmt...to which I said, " well how can we make a diagnosis without the tests? " He said that hospitals are pressuring drs. about not ordering " unnecessary " tests, because they are losing money when the ins. companies will only pay a certain amount. That's great. So, here's part of the problem of people going untreated...ignorant drs. and costs? 4) and, here's the best part (well, 2 parts that were my favorites): he wanted to know where I was getting all my information. I told him from numerous books, literature and the internet...to which he said " you have to be careful about what you read on the internet. There's a lot of misinformation on there. " AND...(here it is...) maybe I should try taking an anti-depressant to help me with my anxiety/depression, which can cause illnesses. Like that ??? I did. Oh, but they did do a blood draw for the TSH, T3 & T4...so I got my bandaid afterall. That's where I am as of now. I tried. Kathy
