Guest guest
I justed wanted to mention some odd facts regarding PSC. My husband's MELD even now has stayed between 13 and 15 How can he be so sick at just this score? Our Hep doctor said that PSC never scores as high as say an alcoholic or hepatitis lever patient. But they are first on the list. Also, adding up the figures between the VA, UAMS and Medicare and insurance, almost $500,000 has been spent keeping Kelley alive... the transplant would have been less expensive. There is no logic in this picture. Laurie
Guest guest
hi Laurie- I have been praying for your husband and for you. Can't the doctor apply for exception points to increase the MELD score ? I know that is common with kids- maybe adults too ? Lori lucky mom blessed with triplets > > I justed wanted to mention some odd facts regarding PSC. > My husband's MELD even now has stayed between 13 and 15 > How can he be so sick at just this score? > Our Hep doctor said that PSC never scores as high as say > an alcoholic or hepatitis lever patient. Guest guest
Laurie and Kelley, We are originally from Arkansas. So, I was caught by not only your situation and need for prayers. But, also by you being from our home! My husband, Mike is active duty in the Army and we are stationed at Walter Army Med. Center in DC. My father pastors a church in Redfield, just outside of Little Rock. They are back and forth to the hospitals in LR frequently with visits. If there is anything you need please email me and let me know. I know they'd be happy to help in any way they could. They haven't been able to be here when our son was hospitalized or when he's had bad times in the past 2 years since diagnosis. I know they'd feel like they were doing their part and also God's work by coming if you'd like a pastor's visit or bringing anything you have need of to you at the hospital. My email is mccoopstar@.... Feel free to email me even if just for a fellow Arkansan to talk to who is also a caregiver to a loved one with PSC. We are holding you both in our prayers! May God continue to give you strength Laurie and may Kelley be lifted by our Lord's healing hand! Cindy , mom to Tyler age 16 dx PSC Oct. 2006, dx portal hypertension, 3 renal cysts on left kidney and enlarged liver and spleen Sep. 2008. A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
