Hi Nikki

I have read several places that sulfa drugs should be avoided by those

with lupus. I remember it because I had a reaction to sulfa drugs

years ago, long before I was diagnosed with lupus.

There is an AWESOME book " The Lupus Book " by Wallace.

He even addresses it in his book. This book is great to learn

about the disease. I have read all kinds of info, and still learned

alot from his book. It is written in plain english, no medical jargon.

He goes over everything fron the basic to the the items that only

affect some people with lupus.

The book itself actually has the lupus foundation of america seal

right on the front cover. According to the book jacket he is one

of the worlds leading authorities on lupus. I would love to have

him for a doctor. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants

to learn more about this disease, even if you have had it for quite

some time.

As far as the antibiotics, I was recently put on cephalexin for

an infection in my foot that would not heal. I had the same concerns

about using an antibiotic. The foot doctor knows

I have lupus. She said even though the immune system over reacts

it can not fend off some infections, thats where the antibiotics come

in. I think its like anything else, as long as you use them once

in a while and dont abuse them and use them all the time, they can

actually have a purpose. Of course this is just my opinion, I dont

have any thing to base this on other than my own personal opinion.
