What type of surgery are you having? Generally it's true: if you have an

infection you are not ready for surgery. But if you have a typical viral

syndrome with a mild secondary upper respiratory infection, this may not

contraindicate some types of surgery. Will you require full

anesthesia? I'd discuss any lingering respiratory difficulties, if so, but

if you're having conscious sedation or other milder forms of anesthesia, it

may not really be a problem.

I suspect that if your doctor had concerns about possible sepsis, she'd

delay your surgery. But no matter what, if YOU have concerns, always air

them beforehand! As Wolf says in " The Talisman, " " Done-bun can't be

undone, " and you'll always want to have all your cards on the table before

undergoing any type of procedure.

Best wishes,

Em
