Guest guest
My husband, is back in the hospital again. He was just released last Sunday after spending 6 days. The big stubborn goober went back to work on Wednesday and even thought he promised me he'd come home if he started feeling bad, he didn't. Friday he came home with a fever. I called the coordinator on call who told me to give him some Tylenol and check it again in an hour and a half. If it didn't go down I was to take him to the ER. It did got down a little so we didn't go. He thought maybe he just needed some rest. Saturday morning I got up and asked him if it was ok for me to go to dance class. He said yes but I suspect the reason he told me to go is because he knew I NEEDED to go. I went and took my stepdaughter with me. I called him afterwards and he sounded awful. I asked him if we needed to come home. He said no. So we went to my niece's birthday party but I called his mom and best friend to see if they would call and check in on him from time to time. My mother-in-law came to our house so she could check his yellowness. LOL His fever did go down even after taking Tylenol so she told him to pack a bag. She took him to our local ER because they couldn't get ahold of anyone at our insurance company with it being the weekend. My stepdaughter & I were an hour away and by the time we got there, they already had plans to transfer him to IU. He works at our local hospital so he knows most everyone there. I guess he went in and said " here's what I have. Here's what's going on. And here's what I need you to do for me. " Fortunately they listened! The ER dr contacted his hepatologist who asked the to do some labs. Once those were complete they called an ambulance to come get him. It was late by the time we got there so I don't know anything yet. I'm sure it's just more of the same though. We are both SO ready for this to be over with. I wonder what his MELD score is now? When I talked to his coordinator the other day, she said when he was there 2 weeks ago it ranged from 18-23 which is exactly when they like to transplant their patients. Heck a friend of ours was listed at 5, was on the list 3 days and his MELD score was 10 at the time of transplant. He was one lucky dude! And he & his wife have been such an amazing sense of support to us. I called her yesterday and asked " how did you NOT have nervous breakdown? " I feel like I'm just about there! They give stuff for anxiety. I think I need something too! I'll give an update when I know something.
