It is 5 AM and I have been up all night again with pain under my right rib area-going to my shoulder. I would love to live like great grandma! We grow alot of our own food, and I pluck and spin my own yarn, knit my own socks, sweaters, hats, etc. I make my own soap, and am DIE-ing to make some blackberry jelly as soon as I can get the kids out picking, and can alot of vegetables/fruits...We live in the boonies and it is not uncommon for us to be without electricity/running water for a week at a time. We get buckets of water from our creek (not for drinking of course) and cook on the top of a kerosene heater. And is the only time we burn REAL wood in the fireplace! The only bad thing about it is in the winter, there is no way to take a good bath or shower. When I was young, my family had a cabin that we stayed in on vacations with no electricity or water. My uncle cooked on a giant wood stove (the food seemed better then) and at night we went to the bathroom in ceramic pots.
