Guest guest
We've all had fun with the various meanings for PhD, but I think we're taking the wrong tack with this. First of all, PhD's don't treat patients, so even though good etiquette says a PhD can be addressed as doctor so-and-so, it's not appropriate to be making digs about them as if they were medical doctors or making big bucks despite mistreating patients. Secondly, the treating physician made it sound like the patient (sorry, I forgot who started this thread) couldn't speak with authority because she didn't have a PhD. I think the most appropriate wording is Patient Having Disease, which allows us to speak with much more authority than someone with mere book learning.
