for me I take Urso-forte, and when I had a recent bad bout or pruirits. My GI gave me Adarex(sp?) which also helped. Mine was caused because 2 or the 3 bilirubins were way high, and the 3rd was at the max. But I was not high enough to be jaundiced so I didn't put 2 and 2 together, until I got the results of my monthly labs.

But for a non-medication help I found a lotions called Sarna. I can get it at Walgreen's in my area (Denver,CO). And the first time I put it on I was in heaven, it was the first time in 2 weeks that I could get the itching to calm down past what the meidcations were doing. And one good thing about Sarna is that they also have a sensitive skin formula. I could not get that at my Walgreen's, but saw that you could order it on Walgreens.com

I am getting monthly blood draws for hepatic function because I had one bout of pancreatitis (before PSC was actually diagnosed. Then 3 bouts of cholangitis in 3 months. And now I have started nursing school so my GI wants to try to head things off at the pass, and keep me healthy while I am in school. Until Dec 2010

Good luck with the itching,

Beth B
