Guest guest
()>>>when it is locked up and I am literally writhing trying to find a position that will release it! LOL<<<< Hi , I have experienced that weird spasm too! Sometimes after bending down from a seated position in car to get something from floor and --ZING!!!-- I'm writhing like that, just paralysed on the spot with the spasm of that odd muscle down inside somewhere...actually mine seemed sometimes to feel as if it was my actual insides (under the ribs maybe inside like my guts just TWISTING themselves in a spasm!) But was more likely some other sort of unused muscle that I found had a strength I never knew, wow! Unbelievable. Anyway...my suggestion: how is your POTASSIUM level? (I never found the cause of my spasms, but later ended up hypokalemic and prescribed potassium twice daily probably forever because I don't seem to absorb it...my level never goes too high now.) I know that low potassium levels can cause cramps and muscle spasms of all kinds. My endo told me that even BEFORE my hypokalemia showed up on lab reports, it was doing damage at the cellular level, and that was why I had been having heart rhythm irregularities and chest pains and such... I was already having the low potassium, disruption of electrolytes long before it could be detected on labs, well isn't that nice to know? Sometimes it's good to listen to our bodies & symptoms more than just those numbers on lab reports, huh! ~Ritzy Date: Mon, 21 Mar 2005 00:07:10 -0000 Subject: Re: Leg Cramps?/ rib cage pain/Cindi , I used to get a Charlie Horse over the ribs area too, a few years back when I had gained some weight. Very painful! But I seem to have gotten over it now, even though I weigh more than I ever have. Maybe it was a mineral shortage or something. Do the muscles kind of " flutter " when the charlie horse starts to go away? >>>> >>Cindi & , I had to have some x-rays done because I kept >>> >>> getting a pain that was on the left side of my rib cage. << >> >> I think this is likely something different than what I have had. > > What I have experienced is not pain but an actual " Charlie Horse " of the muscles over the ribs. Be careful with that, ok? Take care! ~Ritzy Subject: Re: Re: Leg Cramps?/ rib cage pain/Cindi I hardly get them at all anymore, well last week had a couple but after being sick with diarrhea all the last two weeks I knew I needed both fluids and salt so have been trying to replenish since I am feeling a little better. Seems as though whenever get sick with anything is when I get these and I just have to eat some salt and they stop, but I must have something wrong that is screwing up the electrolyte balance or it wouldn;t keep happening. I have been getting these things for about 4 years now off & on. DL Ritz wrote: > ()>>>when it is locked up and I am literally writhing > trying to find a position that will release it!
