Guest guest
Hi D'fly... Regarding guaifenesin, I started on that therapy but upon further research I find that the only study done that suppoted Dr St. Armonds (sp?) work was his own! Also, as a vegetarian I found that it was a VERY difficult therapy to follow due to the need to stay completely away from all salicylates. They are found in almost all plant matter and not only can you not eat them, you can't even put them on your body in the form of shampoos, lotions, etc...(as in all natural, weird chemical and pesticide-free products) At least as far as I found. You may find other info that I missed. Good luck to you.. Morningsong
Guest guest
I will have to research the salicylate problem further. There are only two main sources that I know of: aspirin and wine, especially red white. These are easy to avoid. I am also vegetarian, near vegan. I have low blood sugar that is not terribly reactive, at this moment. I have been put on an anti candida diet by my naturopath. I have to give up all nightshades: Eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes, onions and mushrooms. Add in that I don't touch eggs, dairy products, meat, fish or any refined grains...and I am not so sure what I am going to be eating! I am going to make what I hope will be decent high protein drink of soy milk (I have a machine that makes it), barley malt and soy isolate. I can't have any sugars, honey and only a very, very small amount of maple sugar two times a week. I have to limit fruit and then, only have green apples. Still.... This will not go on forever, but I have to clear my system of the yeasts that have been causing all sorts of bad things to happen. I am searching my cookbooks for soups and stews with lentils for their iron as I am also borderline anemic! I am looking at salad based, leafy green based wraps too. I have a yeast free pizza crust that is whole wheat that I like and am looking at toppings I can have without tomato sauces of any kind. I may stop eating altogether...I may have to!
