Guest guest
Hey, I know of 2 people right now who are on a program that sounds just like that! One is 47 & the other is in his late 50's! They are doing great. If they can do it so can your hubby. At least he is trying. Some people would just quit. My hubby can't go back to work. The only job he knows is to physically demanding to do with Parkinson's Disease & when he applied for disability they sent him to a psychiatrist to see if he could be retrained. He couldn't do any of the puzzles or tests they gave him because of his cognitive function. Neuro labeled it Alzheimer's, but also said it could just be a part of the PD. It acts the same way & is treated the same way, but wouldn't tell us if it progressed the same way. He was very depressed in the beginning, but with some antidepressants, & realizing that he can still have a pretty normal life for now had made a huge difference. I took him back to his neuro today. Wasn't a good trip. This doc is sadly lacking bedside manner. Today was on of his worst! He took Jace off the new Alzheimer med he was on because he felt like it wasn't working. That was depressing because we had such high hopes. He scheduled an MRI of his brain to look for any major changes. That's Aug. 12. I'm going to be doing a LOT of praying between now & then!!! I can't go to work because he needs me here, plus I've always worked with him & have no work history. Who's going to hire a decrepit 45 yr. old with no public work history?! Ain't life grand sometimes! You hang in there...and find out about the meds & help! Please. It's now 5:35am & I think my meds are finally kicking in to over ride the pred. -- Cheryl's depression Thanks ! My husband has decided to take a small job and go back to school to get trained to do something else. He can get on a program that lets him collect unemployment while he does it. At least that is what he said tonight. His illness just won’t let him get back into sales. Who ever heard of a 57 year old getting retrained and starting a new career? I guess it’s happened. I keep you posted on what he chooses and all that.
