Guest guest
heheh. Be careful how you 'handle the new dr'. They have some 'fragile egos' that go with that degree they are so proud of. What you might try is to take some key points like......well, as you know, low ferritin can mimic hypo symptoms, so maybe that should be looked at. If he/she thinks you know too much, they sometimes dig in and won't budge an inch. (it's sad that they have to be handled like that, but sometimes necessary). Give him an opportunity to acknowledge that you know some key points that he should know. :-) My last Endo was a female she-devil. I'd not go back to her if she were the last Endo on earth. She flat out told me when she found out that I was on Armour that 'people want cocaine legalized too so they can feel good' but it's not gonna happen? rofl. I knew then it was a wasted trip. She did do good on the tests she ran though, and seemed to know what to be checking for. I just couldn't tolerate the Levoxyl she talked me into trying after being on Armour. In a little less than a week, I'd tossed the Levoxyl and went back to Armour with no regrets. SandyE~Houston Correct which first - ferritin or T3? Getting ready to do battle with new doc on Monday. Old doc refused to consider I was hypo (despite labs & lousy symptoms) - never could get a ferritin test done. So when I see this new guy do I ask to begin Armour AND for ferritin tests, waiting for ferritin results to see if I need to ADD iron supplements in addition to the Armour? Or is he likely to say let's test ferritin, see the results & then think about ARmour? I really want to be " driving " this appointment, so want all my barrels loaded when I go in! ;-)
Guest guest
Good points, Sandy! I'd also focus on the signs of the two illnesses - these are the thigns the doc can measure and agree 'yes, there's a problem here' - the low pulse, low blood pressure, low body temp, high cholesterol (if it's an issue), scaly, dry skin - eczema if you have it, pull some clumps of hair out ... you know? Instead of saying you feel cold, or you're tired or you feel dizzy right off the bat (these are symptoms as opposed to signs, doctors like Signs - they can test these). Avoid all mention of feeling depressed or anxious or overwhelmed - this is when they like to pull out the paxil, at least that's how they do it here in Ontario. best of luck, Nat > heheh.
