Nikki,

I was diagnosed while we were living in Raleigh. During the process, I was

eventually

referred to Muir at Duke because my GI doc said that was the best place

for me to

be if I needed a transplant. I liked Dr Muir a lot and was very pleased with

his care,

although I was only there there for about 1 year after my diagnosis. He was

very

responsive and his staff were very encouraging to me.

We moved to Atlanta this summer. When I asked Dr Muir for a referral, he

referred me to a

Dr Sherstha at Piedmont Hospital, which appears to be a hospital with a specific

focus on

kidney, pancreas, and liver transplants. I have not seen him yet, but I'm

currently setting

up my first appointment. So, I can't really tell you about Emory. But I can

tell you that if I

can't find anyone I'm happy with in the Atlanta area, it would probably be worth

a 7-hour

drive every six months to go back and see Dr. Muir. Just wouldn't be the

greatest for

emergencies :-)

Debbie:

Thank you for the information. Dr. Sheresta, that you're suppose to

be seeing, came from UNC-Chapel Hill (where I had my transplant). He

is a very knowledgeable man and I think that you will like him. I wish

you the very best. Thanks again.
