Guest guest
Hi fellow Chocaholics, I am hypo with Hashi's and use Armour 150 (2.5 grains) plus cytomel for added T3. So my dose would be considered high by a typical MD but normal for many of you on the list....equal to about 3.5 grains. My recent labs showed a low T4 level of: .91 (.61 - 1.76) a low TSH level of: .03 (.35 - 5.5) and a medium T3 level of 3.3 (2.3 - 4.2) As you can see, I need the extra cytomel to boost the T3 level up to the midpoint of the range. That's why I supplement the Armour this way. I have no hyper symptoms and sometimes feel a little hypo but nowhere like I used to feel on Synthroid alone!! My question is concerning the T4 being low: how can it affect me? As long as it is in the normal range and the more active agent (T3) is adequate, won't I be okay? What independent contribution does T4 make to our health? When a person takes a lot of T3 (like I do) can that push T4 downward? Would I better off taking 3+ grains of Armour instead of 2.5 plus cytomel, in order to push my T4 up higher?
