Guest guest
Hi mojo, I'm sorry you can't give your mom a "Sense of Humor" transplant...my sense of humor has gotten me through some tough times......when I have a stressful day....and I start to whine to the group about what an awful day I had ....I try to look at it in a Jeff Foxworthy "Heres your sign" way. And more often than not can find some humor in my mishaps and blunders. By the way Jeff Foxworthy is going to have his own show on the WB network on T. V. some time this fall....I never can catch when it will air !.....I love that Man !! MY SON'S WEDDING , AND MY " GRAND FINALE" Just a short note to let you know How the Wedding went, then I' m off to rest somemore....... The wedding was beautiful, The Whole day was so much fun !!......instead of people crying at THIS wedding ceremony .......The Minister, and and Helen, had the whole crowd of 75 guests cracking up laughing all through the ceremony!! They had me all set up in a shady spot, with a portable A.C. unit blowing on me in a nice comfy chair on the front porch while all the other quests were seated in folding chairs on the lawn . But leave it to me to provide the "Grand Finale"to the wedding ceremony. ....After Helen and had gone back into the house , I stood up.....now I was using my cane , had my knee brace on my "Wonky" Knee moving slowly and carefully I thought.......But failed to take off my sun glasses, and am not used to wearing sandals.........I usually run around the house in socks, or barefoot, then when I go out I wear a pair of "high -top, flat soled shoes".....kinda like high-topped sneakers ....But I wanted to dress up for this Occasion, and wore some sandals with just a "Tiny heel" Well you have probably already guessed what happenend......My shoe caught on the doorjam on the entrance to their front door. .......AND DOWN I WENT !!.......luckily I had been carrying my pillow from the chair, that I had behind my lower back, I was carrying it in my left hand, and when I went down I went down on my left side, cause My knee brace on my right knee would not let my right knee Go "wonky " on me.....well , as a reflex I threw out my left arm to catch myself as I went down, which luckily placed the Pillow I was carrying right where my head would have hit the floor!! I mmediately, there were two people hovering all over me......first my son, , who panicked ! "OH NO! SHE BROKE HER ARM!! Because I had hit my right wrist against the very edge of the door and He said he saw a " FROG" jump up....and thought it was a broken bone. Luckily, one of the guests at the wedding was an EMT, who took over , and, FIRSTLY , calmed down.......... Then checked me out, agreeing with me that my arm was NOT broken, cleaned and dressed the scrape that I DID have on my right forearm .......(took the first layer of skin right off , in a strip about four inches long !)......made sure I didn't have any head, (thank you pillow) ,neck , or back injuries.....He kept asking If I was feeling" Dizzy-Headed" to which I replied," ......I always feel dizzy-headed, it's just a "Condition of the Condition I'm in !" .....which got a big laugh from all the wedding guests......".OH", I thought......"I'M ON !"......The comedian in me came out, and I stated with a big smile," I was just providing the GRAND FINALE TO THE WEDDING CEREMONY ! " I found myself doing an " Impromptu Stand -Up Routine" lying flat on my back.......! I got another round of laughter, when I stated, "I WAS JUST DOING MY PAX-DE TROIX! " (sp?) ......(a complicated ballet maneuver in which you jump up, and quickly cross your feet at the ankles several times before landing .) After I got my arm bandaged, and iced down to prevent swelling, and it was determined that I was okay, I was helped to my feet, and sensing I was losing my "AUDIENCE".......I couldn't resist a ,"TA-DAH !!" with my arms outspread, and of course got my "ROUND OF APPLAUSE !!"......... Then the Party began....... had done his usual magic with the bar-B- Que grill and Smoker, they had set up the pool for the kids......brought out the horse-shoes........and after a horse-shoe tournement ......the food was done. MAN! That boy of mine can COOK ! .....Most of the things he makes are dishes He "Just came up with " on his own, by experimenting with left-overs.......Now people are always asking for his " recepies" In my family, we always called those ......(throw every thing in the skillet and hope for the best) dishes,"SLUM -GULLIAN. " After the EATS......the Karioke Party Broke out......I was all set up in a comfy recliner, and My Sweet 13yr old Grandson, B J , stationed himself at my feet, Told me He loved me......and watched over me , bringing me cold glasses of water, when he saw my glass was getting empty, and insisted on helping me up and down, and helping me to the rest room when I needed to go, and waiting for me outside the door, then walking me back to my chair , propping my feet up , and sitting at my side again. I LOVE THAT BOY !!...... We were there from 10:00 a. m. till 8:00 p.m. I have not had so much fun in years ! I laughed so hard at , and his friends's antics with the Karioke.....my cheeks were hurting !!.......Of course.....they were all into the Champagne , Wine, and Beer by then( I even broke my rules by accepting a couple of sips of the Champagne I had brought them as a wedding gift , I must say it was delicious !!)......and were making complete fools of themselves, doing everything from the Rightous Brothers, complete with the back up singers with their Hokey dance steps. .......... to the Beatles.....to Stevie Ray Vaughn, .......to Waylen Jennings, I was gasping for breathe, I was laughing so hard......when they did " You don't have to call me "Darlin', Darlin'.......and "Up Against the Wall ,Redneck Mothers!" by Waylen Jennings. I had so much fun, there could not have been better therapy.......watching young people have so much fun !! The ride home did me in though......it is an hours ride, and I am still exhausted, and just a little sore , and have this new wound to tend to. But I would not have missed it for the world......And have decided to get me one of them there rec.iners t the Trift Store......I have seen some very nice once for about $25.00......I love Thrift Stores! MY GOSH! .....did I say I was going to write a quick note and then rest some more?
