I have a question about itching. My husband has never had itching with

his psc until today. Yesterday he was throwing up and now today he

says that he itches from head to toe. Does that mean that there is

something going on with the liver? This is a new symptom for us.

I think Rick is correct. It may be

too early for the jaundice to show, but itching and nausea meant that I was

having a flare up. If he hasn’t had Labs since the change, I would

recommend he get them – at least check the liver numbers.

Does he have a fever at all? Is he jaundiced (yellowing of

the eyes and/or skin)? I would suspect with the nausea and itching that

it could be liver related – especially if he has a low grade fever or

higher. Usually for the itching to be liver related, his bilirubin would

be elevated and he would having yellowing of his eyes and/or skin. If

he is yellow, then it is likely that is the source of the itching. If

not, then it is more possible that it is a different cause.
