Guest guest
I've never really gotten a satisfactory answer for this question, but then again I've only ever asked doctors (eye rolling). I'm curious what your take on this would be. About 15 years ago I had a little accident at work; cut myself went into shock endured months and months of tests to see just what the heck was up with me. I'd just lost about 120 lbs dieting and exercising to the extreme, btw - lost it in about 11 months (I was 22 at the time). My doctor did a full workup on me and came back with one thing really out of whack - I had thyroid antibodies off the charts. Enough so that he sent me to see a specialist for an ECG and more tests. Those came back 'normal'. He had me on some little yellow pill; I suspect it was a T4 med but honestly I didn't pay much atttention, I felt fine I was lean and I was happy. When the pills never seemed to do anything I evnetually stopped taking them. Now speed ahead 15 years, TSH is high, FT4 is in the toilet and I feel just awful - but I have no antibodies! Now I understand that there are some people in the population who have antibodies w/o every becoming hypo or hyper, but do they have them 'off the charts'? That phrase I remember well. Any input would be appreciated. Nat
