After gentamicin dstroyed my inner ears and infection was still threatening (and sulfa was the only other drug for THE BUG), I underwent desensitization to sulfa under the watchful eyes of an allergist immunologist. I'm not suggesting that you do it, MizKit, but the information may be helpful to others with drug allergies. There was a very specific routine beginning with less than baby-sized doses and lots of monitoring.
