Guest guest
Monday when they checked his bilirubin in the ER it was 14! That's the highest it's EVER been. And we decided tonight what color he was that day. We were watching tv in his room and he said " I looked like a Simpson (as in Bart, Homer, etc) " LOL I said " yea, you're right! " Anyway, he was admitted and is still there. The hep that saw him yesterday said that because of this recent attack and the one he had in October, his feeling is that we need to start the pre-transplant work up phase. He was supposed to contact Chris's coordinator and hep and see about getting the ball rolling. We're both pretty much at peace with it. We have no doubts that it's going to be hard and painful and scary initially but we are both more than ready to get past this and have him be healthy. We have a new baby on the way for pete's sake! He needs to be able to chase him or her around in a couple years. He'd been spiking a fever every night which made him feel just awful. He actually didn't tonight. They also started giving him plasma because his INH was all out of whack. He said after he'd gotten a couple units that he felt 1000 times better. They're wanting to do a pericentisis (sp?) tomorrow to drain the fluid from his abdomen. He's less than thrilled about that one! When the dr was in today he said his bilirubin was down to 11. Still pretty high but MUCH better than 14! He's still yellow but looks less like a Simpson. He couldn't sleep last night, partly because his bed is so uncomfortable, his abdomen is extremely swollen and he was having anxiety attacks. The dr said he'd order him an anti anxiety med tonight so hopefully he'll be able to get some rest. I'll be heading back down there tomorrow after I get our daughter off to school. I am REALLY tired of hospital food! Thanks for all the positive thoughts and well wishes.
