Guest guest
Dear MM: Thank you so much for the reminder about how hard this disease is. It comes up out of the blue, like you said so nicely, "no matter how brave, well informed or determined sometimes it just gets a temporaty victory." The hard part is coming back after it slaps you down...... I am just coming out of a 5 week flare- and prednisone (yuck). BRIAN: Hang in there. Pam Re: depressed and starting to flare , You will get through this, honey. We all have to one degree or another, and we know how youfeel. Like I always say, Lupus just nickels and dimes you to death. Each time you think you have itdown, can cope, it hits you in a new spot. Therein lies the challenge of this damned disease... it'sunpredictability. And, no matter how brave, well informed, or determined we are, sometimes it justgets a temporary victory. The trick is to make a strong comeback each time. Are you taking prednisone? That would account for the high blood sugars. And, if you are a type IIdiabetic, that isn't so horrible as it sounds. I have been managing mine for more than 25 years onoral drugs alone, and with diet changes. I am still very large, but my sugars are within an acceptablerange unless I am super flaring and in hospital. Then, THEY monitor them and so far I have only hadto have insulin once in my life. Hang in there, . We are here for you.
