Armour for my miniature dachshund

Molly has/ is losing massive amounts of her hair and has chronic skin

infections. The vet also said that thyroid issues are common with the breed.

He wants to test her Free T4 and then put her on Levoxyl/Synthroid.

How would you dose a mini on Armour? Is there any literature/studies available

to show that Armour is beneficial for dogs?

Levoxyl/Synthroid is the " gold standard " for dogs according to my vet.

Thanks in advance for your input.

While it is the " gold standard " for pets, I see alot that do not respond

completely to it. I would also ask for the Free T3 and Free T4 tests as

sometimes the total T4 that they run will miss true hypothyroid pets just as it

would people. I have heard of very few people giving Armour to their dogs. They

need alot more per pound than we do! My 21 pound cat takes 4 grains Armour a

day.
