Guest guest
Four months. I made it to four months after transplant. In my case, that seems to be the magic number. I'm finally feeling good more often than I feel weak and sick. The big doses of prednisone they gave me cleared up my throat, which proves the theory that there are still some autoimmune issues going on. At 40 mg/day, I don't sleep at night and am very restless. I don't think I've slept more than five or six hours the last two days. On the other hand, I was able to work for 12 hours on tax returns yesterday. It's a killer workload, but this is the time of year where we make our money, and it's great to have the strength to do it. And, since prednisone tends to make one gain weight, maybe I'll finally gain a few needed pounds. I was supposed to gain 10 in March, and I actually lost two. I'm also completely off all of the pain meds, so I can put to rest my fears of becoming a pain killer junkie for now. We have just under two weeks of busy time before the main part of tax season ends, and I just might make it. Tomorrow night, I am scheduled to represent the Washington Regional Transplant Community at the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors meeting. The Board is passing a resolution recognizing National Donate Life Month, so at the very least, it will be a nice photo op for me and a good way to spread the word. Larry and Debbie gave me a couple shirts for my birthday. They have " Transplant Inside " logos on them, which is very cool. More " thank yous " to them. Back to tax work. Boy, it's great to be able to say that!Tom To send a message to Tom, Kathy and family goto; http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/thomasbutler
