Guest guest
From a strictly selfish point of view, all the trouble Tom is having is scaring me to pieces. I'm third from the top of the list - one of the others is a big guy, and the other is a very small woman. So if the donor is medium sized, I'm up.Nita
Guest guest
Hi Nita I am sure there have been many from this group who have had transplants and have gone onto lead healthy lives with the PSC Yahoo Discussion Board a distant memory. Alas, its ones like Tom, Ken and Hillbilly Bob who are struggling that we hear more of. Its great that we are able to hear what is happening to them, because thats what a support group is all about. Hopefully you will be one who has a transplant and just moves on from there. Best wishes .
Guest guest
Nita, What Tom is experiencing is truly challenging; however, his liver is working well. I am sure that Tom is frustrated, but from the posts, he sounds like he is still in a positive frame of mind. I think that he will fully recover and be as happy with the final product as I am. My transplant went well. I did have a glitch at day six that made my stay in Chicago last three weeks instead of one. Had I not had a reaction to one of the meds to help me avoid a particularly bad strain of pneumonia, I would have been home in one week. As it was, I was home in three and got to have a weekend at home after week 2. What I am trying to say is that after I got home everything has went well. I am 15 months out and leading a very normal life. Yes, I have to watch my sugar and salt intake, drink lots of water, and exercise; however, all of that is really a plus as far as my health is concerned. I raised a garden and took care of two yards totaling four acres this past summer while working full time. I have had a cold since transplant – only one. For the first time in my recent memory I was able to shake it without antibiotics. No more infections, no more hurt in the gut, no more URSO, no more sulfasalizine, Do I sound excited. You bet! I got another chance at life. I take every day that God gives me and live it to the fullest. Keep a positive attitude and good luck. It sounds like it could happen at any time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Joe PSC & UC 1990; Liver Tx 2007 From a strictly selfish point of view, all the trouble Tom is having is scaring me to pieces.
