Guest guest
This message is for Randy with the Vest. I saw on the website that there are two different vests. We have the full vest for our son who is 4wcf. What is the Chest vest and can it be used for young children with CF? Cody often complains that the vest gives him a stomach ache, could this chest vest work for him? I requested information from the website but havn't heard anything yet. Thanks, Debra W. Guest guest
Hi Debra, The Chest Vest was designed more for the adolescent and adult patient. The principle is the same as with the Full Vest (the one you have), but it is shorter for those adults with big abdomens. The stomach issue is a common one among young Vest users. I have worked with several patients on this problem. I have found that if you loosen or even release the bottom buckle, that will help decrease the tummy ache. Also, make sure your son is not using it right after he eats. My suggestion would be to allow one of our trainers to make a home visit to see what else can be done; or, we can meet you in the MD's office on your next visit. That way we also can see if he fits a chest vest. There is no charge for this. It is part of our customer service. Let me know what works for you, Debra. We will work with you, your son and your healthcare team to resolve this problem. In the meantime, I will forward your e-mail to Barb Dow in Customer Service so you can get more information on the Chest Vest. Randy The Vest This message is for Randy with the Vest.
