Hello, I have a 7 year old boy with CF. He has been having severe

abdominal pain coupled with dehydration, severe vomiting and fever. A

GI specialist at a Children's hospital believes he is having

intussusceptions. My child's pediatrician dosen't think so. My child

has had about 7 attacks of this is the past 6 months. He ends up in

hosptial with IV treatment for dehydration. His pediatrician doesn't

know what is going on. Has anyone else experienced intussusceptions?

My child is so scared of IV's, he kicks, screams, cries, bites and

tells me he hates me. The same goes for bloodwork and needles. Should

I consider a port or will this get better for my child? He has had

about 50 admissions since birth...many IV's and it is just getting

worse. Thanks for your time!

This has to be really hard on you also. It sounds heart wrenching.

I don't understand why the hospital can't give your son something

orally to calm him and then use a topical cream to numb the area

prior to the IV? There must be a way to make the IV's less

traumatic, without harming your son's health. I sure hope that

someone on this site can offer you some possible solutions.
