Hello, I have a 7 year old boy with CF. He has been having severe

abdominal pain coupled with dehydration, severe vomiting and fever. A

GI specialist at a Children's hospital believes he is having

intussusceptions. My child's pediatrician dosen't think so. My child

has had about 7 attacks of this is the past 6 months. He ends up in

hosptial with IV treatment for dehydration. His pediatrician doesn't

know what is going on. Has anyone else experienced intussusceptions?

My child is so scared of IV's, he kicks, screams, cries, bites and

tells me he hates me. The same goes for bloodwork and needles. Should

I consider a port or will this get better for my child? He has had

about 50 admissions since birth...many IV's and it is just getting

worse. Thanks for your time!

Heidi,

We were introduced to CF through my son having an intussusception. I did

not realize you could have one and it not need to be treated immediately.

The doctors were able to correct it with an air enema with no damage to the

intestines. It would seem that if it were occuring with your son they would

have to tend to it to avoid damage?

The symptoms you describe are the same as my son's were. My pediatrican

realize that there was a blockage as soon as they saw him and send us to the

ER.
