Guest guest
You might want to ask your son's clinic if the " blow-by " method is an acceptable way to administer the aerosols. Instead of a mask on him, you attach the mouthpiece and let the stream of aerosol blow by his mouth and nose as he breathes. He still inhales the medicine, but doesn't have the discomfort of the mask pressing against him. This is how we administered my son's aerosols until he was old enough to hold the nebs himself. He would not tolerate the mask on his face, either. ~ > He hates having that little mask over his mouth and nose- > -any suggestions on how to make it go better? > >

Guest guest
, We let JC watch a video or tv show he likes while he is doing his nebs. Or you could read or tell him a story. Also, you might check with your clinic. JC takes his albutterol with an inhaler and spacer instead of thru a neb. It takes a lot less time, just a few seconds really. Angie P. Guest guest
, Sounds like you have been having a rough time , had Been put on pulomzime, then tobi and we had a awful time with the nebulizer for about a month. we would have to do it at nap time then after he went to bed at night . he has never used the mask ,but clinic gave us one with a dinosuar face. now he will take the treatment i put him in his crib with his favorite toys and we make a game of it. he will even hold it in his mouth most of the time . but he was scared of the noise and the steam for about a month. we havent been on albuteral , but i know the others make him a tad more hyper. Good news since we talked last the psudomonas is completly gone. dr was amazed. read about the move how soon are you going? amy & nathan P.s. i put him in the crib so he cant get to far away during treatment. 1st time albuteral user--any advice? My 18 month old has a throaty cough that he just can't kick. It is our first cough so the CF dr put him on albuteral. Any suggestions or advice? He hates having that little mask over his mouth and nose- -any suggestions on how to make it go better? Any side effects besides jitteriness that we should look out for? Thanks!! Guest guest
We use the blow by method for albuterol. And Baby Einstein videos are great for keeping their attention so that they will sit still. > >Reply-To: cfparents >To: cfparents >Subject: Re: 1st time albuteral user--any advice? >Date: Sat, 12 Oct 2002 11:10:22 -0000 > >You might want to ask your son's clinic if the " blow-by " method is an >acceptable way to administer the aerosols. Guest guest
We use to do what does but we would plug one end of the nebulizer cup with a wine cork so it was only blowing out in one direction and then we tickle to get him laughing and breathing heavy. My son puts the nebulizer cup in his mouth now (we use the pari cups - when we do use the regular " T " cups we still use the wine cork) and we still do 'tickle therapy' to get him going.
