Guest guest
Gail- ISU is Idaho State University. It is in southeastern Idaho, about three hours form Salt Lake City. Our first XC meet is this Saturday. I am nervous, I don't feel like I am in shape. My coach tells me that I am doing fine, especially when you think about how often I have been sick or in the hospital. Crystal, My father had cancer fifteen years ago. He was only given five years to live, but he is a fighter. He was one the participants in the Luperon Clinical Tests - I remember the chemo, the heart catheter that we had to clean - shot- rebandage, and I remember the road to recovery. And I remember my dad at the age of 65 running in a marathon...he was tired and he didn't come in first - actually don't remember what place - it didn't matter, he finished. He didn't finish all the races, but he did his best. You do the same - practice as best you can (some days you may just walk the track and some days you may watch - but some days you will be able to run). It is great your coach is encouraging you... The important thing is that you do what you can. Keep a positive attitude - that will help you through many things in life. My dad today is 80 and is still out there running (well walk, run, walk, run) and the local radio station sponsored him in a race for a charity he started those 15 years ago - they now raise many thousands of dollars every year because he did his best and then he shared. Dad would love to hear how you do throughout the year. Good luck and just do you best, Gail West, Indiana
