Guest guest
Hello to all, I was reviewing a web site Hallock sent in to be considered to be added to the resource links on the home page, http://www.pancassociation.org/links.htmlhttp://www.pancassociation.org/links.html Category: Pain management & / or Diabetes & / or Resources Name: Pain Management Technologies URL: http://www.paintechnology.com/ Description: PMT is a leading national distributor of all types of electrotheraphy pain control devices and Diabetic Therapeutic Shoes. These shoes meet the criteria set forth in the Diabetes Foot Bill recently set forth by Congress. The company is driven by the goal of making sure that you are serviced with the highest quality products at the lowest prices. I found it interesting and found out about a new electrotheraphy pain control device, similar to a TENS, but operationally different. I pasted some of the information that was on their web site for anyone who is interested. Parts of it are technical, but I was still able to understand the basic principle of how it worked and how it differed from the TENS. I never considered using an electrotherapy device for pain control, but I have met several members who did, and experienced good outcomes. I sent the Director of PMT an email to discuss the relationship of their services to Chronic Pancreatitis, and to encourage them, as a proactive company to update their website to address the intractable pain affected by this disease, as well. In an effort to bring Chronic Pancreatitis to the forefront of research and study, and simply to have this disease acknowledged, it needs to take its place in print, alongside other catastrophic chronic diseases, such as Diabetes, heart disease, and even Pancreatic cancer. It's a process..name, claim, embrace, and let go. See you at the symposium, Karyn , RN Founder / President http://www.pancassociation.org KarynWms@.../ Pancreatitis Association International Many People, Many Faces, One Voice ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------- The newest units use a very low voltage current, usually between 1uA and 1000uA. A microamp (uA) is 1/1000 of a milliamp (mA), so 1000 uA equals 1 mA. Most TENS devices have a milliamplitude of 1-80 mA. Where TENS is used to hide pain, the Microcurrent Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulator, MENS, because of its close proximity of our own body's current, is thought to work on a more cellular level. It has been theorized that healthy tissue is the result of the direct flow of electrical current throughout the body. Electrical balance is disrupted when the body is injured at a particular site, causing the electrical current to change course. The use of Microcurrent over the injured site is thought to realign this flow, thus aid in tissue repair. It's been found that ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) in the cell helps to promote protein synthesis and healing. The lack of ATP due to trauma of the tissue results in the decreased production of sodium and an increase in metabolic wastes, which is perceived as pain. The use of Microcurrent at an injured area helps to realign the body’s electrical current, increase the production of ATP, resulting in increased healing and recovery, as well as blocking the pain that is perceived. Conditions which can be treated with Micro-Current Therapy This list represents only a few of the many conditions which can be treated. In addition, the following items represent broad categories for which there are many frequencies available depending on the specific issue the patient is presented with: Structural Issues -Auto-Immune issues -Endocrine System Balance -Electromagnetism Issues -Muscle Balancing Issues -Endocrine Adaptive Circuit Clearing -Injuries to Joints, Tendons, Tissues, etc. -Spinal Adaptive Circuit Clearing -Bio-Adaptive Computer (body chemistry) An interesting note is that Pancreatitis affects every one of these issues
