Darcie,

A CT scan with contrast of your abdomen can show structural abnormalities

in your organs. It is the first test a doc will usually do after finding

your pancreatic enzymes elevated. If you have stones or ductal

strictures/dilation, malformed pancreatic ducts, enlargement, masses or

tumors the CT can show them. There are many things the CT can't show but

it is very good at showing physical problems with your pancreas.

Good luck.

Darcie,

An abdominal and pelvic CT-scan with contrast was what

confirmed my diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. A follow-up

CT-scan a couple weeks later was what confirmed my diagnosis

of chronic pancreatitis. It definitely was the pivotal diagnostic

exam in my case. You can read all about my story at the link

Good luck with your CT-scan tomorrow. Let us know what your

doctor says when you have some more news.

With hope and prayers,
