Guest guest
Ports are a relief after a lot of blown IV's had a port when he was 15 months he was the first cf infant to have a port.I called it his good luck charm as he kept it til he was 5 and he stayed out of the hospital the whole time he had it.With Rebekah she was so very ill she didn't have any surface veins left only deep veins (cut down kind .Her first port had a line failure less than a year later.I wanted to see if she did ok without it.She did have a hard time so we put another in almost 2 years ago and she has been out of the hospital 2 years this monthWOW that is a record for her ! I hope Eilish & Liam are doing good.BeckyB.

Guest guest
What you mentioned about the TB sounds familiar. Last year about this time was in the hospital and another of our cf friends was also there. That girl had " TB " signs but it wasn't like the TB I knew of. The doctors figured it came from the water. They had her in isolation for the week she was there. They were giving her an antibiotic and then had to give benadryl because of the reddness and itching from the antibiotic. She was on vancomycin. The doctors told us that everyone is exposed to this type of " TB " but only some people have problems from it. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hope gets well soon. Never heard of anything but the run of the mill PA. I can understand his reluctance to a port, I absolutely hate them and dread Eilish having one (phobia of mine). Best of luck. (Australia) Liam 8 wocf & Eilish 5wcf cfparents- is in the hospital--Question Hi all .My 18 year old is in club med.He has a weird psuedamona it seems it comes up TB but it isn't TB the psuedo is so close it comes up on the culture TB very scary he hates it as they put him in isolation .Have any of you heard of the psuedo (tb pretender) ?The weather here has been very humid the last week and Forgets he has asthma.I talked to him about a port again ,as an adult it is his decision and with his times in the hospital 5 this spring(we will not discuss those) he really is running out of veins for those picc lines.BeckyB. Guest guest
Hi Becky, go to the link below (since it is too large you have to copy and paste it into the adress line), there is good information about Pseudomonas aeruginosa TB. I hadn't heard of this strain before either. But whenever you look for information about something, just go to www.google.com and type the keywords you are looking for. I did a search for Pseudomonas and TB and found quite a lot of info. Hope will get well soon. Is he on Zithromax already?
