Guest guest
At what point do you add the yogurt? I did not find it in the BTVC or on the web sites. Thanks, Sheri
Guest guest
Sheri, Most adults start the yogurt right after starting the diet. With the kids, it's a little trickier. Many of them cannot tolerate any form of cow's milk products. So, parents are leary to try any dairy of any sort. Some will try nut yogurt. Others will get REALLY brave and try the goat's milk yogurt. Either way, I recommend that parents be 100% on the diet for at least a few weeks to a couple of months before introducing goat's milk yogurt. When a child is still experiencing die-off from removing the starches and when a parent is still trying to figure out which foods the child does well with... adding goat yogurt into the mix makes it too complicated to figure out whether the child tolerates it. So, I recommend 100% on the diet and wait until things are pretty smooth. You have a decent menu of things the child eats without problems. Then, add the yogurt. Start SLOW. Some kids have die off with just 1/8 tsp of yogurt. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
