Does anyone know about ERYTHROMYCIN? My derm said

this was better since I've been taking Mino for years

and she felt that I should switch to a better quality

RX. Unfortunately, the side effects of this new one

look worse than Mino and it's not listed in Dr. Nase's

book as a strong contender against P&Ps.

Thanks all...

Erythromycin is another popular antibiotic that is commonly tried as

an alternative to the tetracyclines for rosacea. It has different

side effects, particularly GI distress, and it needs to be taken four

times a day, but I don't know why you say they are worse. Some

erythromycin preparations are gentler to the stomach and don't need

to be taken as often -- you've probably heard them discussed on this

board as clarithromycin (biaxin) and azithromycin (zithromax). They

are good medications but they can have other side effects, and both

are very expensive.
