Guest guest
, I have Cigna (my husband is a Dupont retiree). Until 2 months ago Dupont had Healthsource Insurance but then it changed to Cigna. I don't know if Healthsource lost the contract or changed to being under Cigna's umbrella or what. Is your Cigna through Dupont? I am in the very beginning stages of the process. I got bad news this morning at my PCP. I'm severely anemic and have a B-12 deficiency so they won't recommend me for surgery until my blood levels are normal. They expect it to take at least 6 weeks to have that happen. All that takes place before I even see Dr R. Did you have a fairly easy process being qualified by Cigna? What was your height and weight? Any suggestions on how to smooth the process? Thanks - Janice
Guest guest
Dear Debbie, I have Cigna PPO. Dr. Rutledge IS in Cigna's network as is Durham Regional Hospital. So, who is giving you the information that the above is not true? The only major problem that I have had with Cigna is that they drag their proverbial behinds, but other than that I have not had any problems with them. I didn't even have to send an appeal letter. Sorry I am not an attorney, but regardless I hope this shines a little light. Hang tough, Girl! Guest guest
Dear Janice, No, my insurance is not through Dupont. My husband works for an ABC affiliate (in Florida) and all of their 'business' is conducted through Diversified Communications, in Maine. I am sorry to hear of your anemia. Try and be a good girl and eat your spinach and raisins....smile, or, maybe take lots of Iron pills. (Did they give you any prenatal vitamins?) Then get busy taking those B-complex. (I think they work better when taken with the other 'b's) Are you in NC? Is that how you are able to see Dr. R? Cigna was fairly easy. Just remember to stay on their cases because they do tend to be bogged down in caseloads. Also remember that YOU hired them, not the other way around. My BMI is over 40 (it's 43) which fits me in the AMA's definition of morbidly obese. Have you sent in your information over the internet to Dr. R? (The patient information form) If not, do that first. Dr. R's letter will expedite your 'cause' and get the insurance's attention. Take care and take your vitamins! See you on the other-side. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks a lot! Cigna is saying he is out of network because he is not in my state, ie. he is out of the " Illinois network " for Illinois patients. I am working on appeal letter number 2! Next comes an attorney. Guest guest
Hi , This is a good idea, but our PCP is on vaca and actually we haven't even spoken to her yet! I did send a mountain of papers to her, though, so she can read through everything before we meet with her. My husband will go with me and to help plead our case. In the meantime, the IL Dr that Cigna said does the " same " surgery emailed me today to say that he does a lap roux-en-y, so I sent out my 2nd appeal with both barrels blazing! Debbie also if you have a good relationship with you PCP, have him write you aletter saying he referred you to Dr. R and the reasons why. This might help your case to have a referral from an in network physician. >>
