I have Cigna (my husband is a Dupont retiree). Until 2 months ago Dupont had

Healthsource Insurance but then it changed to Cigna. I don't know if

Healthsource lost the contract or changed to being under Cigna's umbrella or

what.

Is your Cigna through Dupont?

I am in the very beginning stages of the process. I got bad news this

morning at my PCP. I'm severely anemic and have a B-12 deficiency so they

won't recommend me for surgery until my blood levels are normal. They expect

it to take at least 6 weeks to have that happen. All that takes place before

I even see Dr R.

Did you have a fairly easy process being qualified by Cigna? What was your

height and weight? Any suggestions on how to smooth the process?

Dear Debbie,

I have Cigna PPO. Dr. Rutledge IS in Cigna's network as is

Durham Regional Hospital. So, who is giving you the information that

the above is not true? The only major problem that I have had with

Cigna is that they drag their proverbial behinds, but other than that

I have not had any problems with them. I didn't even have to send an

appeal letter. Sorry I am not an attorney, but regardless I hope

this shines a little light. Hang tough, Girl!

You and your sister both are going to have surgery?

I haven't even contacted Dr R yet. My PCP wants to make sure I'm completely

shipshape before he will refer me. So I have to do 3 hemocults to insure I

don't have intestinal bleeding. If they are negative I'll be put on iron

with intrinsic factor. If they are positive I have to have a whole GI series

before they will put me on the iron. They are concerned because though I've

always had a problem with anemia my iron level has plummeted and they want to

make sure I don't have a slow bleed somewhere.

After my blood levels have stabilized my PCP will reconsider my referral.

After thought. Debbie also if you have a good relationship with you

PCP, have him write you aletter saying he referred you to Dr. R and

the reasons why. This might help your case to have a referral from

an

in network physician.
