Hi, all- gallbladder

As always, I am way, way behind. I see that there is a gallbladder thread but

can't find the origin. If there is some question maybe I can help as I just had

laproscopic cholecystectomy and liver biopsy on December 2. I thought that the

surgeon was also supposed to take a look at my pancreas but when I asked him

after the surgery he said he didn't - that he couldn't do it from that angle.

Anyway, they said it would be 2-3 wks recuperation time. It was and still is

very painful- a slow recovery. I ended up having to spend the night but that was

ok. I came home the following afternoon.

I went into the surgery with elevated amylase and believe the surgery triggered

a full blown pancreatitis attack. It was unbearable!! So, they got me a room and

I stayed over. The next morning, the resident (grrrr) said " you have to eat to

go home " and I tried to tell him I had pancreatitis and you aren't supposed to

eat. But, he didn't do any bloodwork and insisted. So, I ate just a little but,

of course, it wasn't enough so I had to stay through lunch. At lunch I just had

soup and a bit of fresh fruit and, fortunately, the surgeon came in and said

just go home. He knew better. So, I was there over 24 hrs. The surgeon is a

biliary surgeon and did a great job. The hospital staff (the residents are from

New York Hospital, I think) was terrific and very attentive to my needs.

Anyway, time will heal this and I hope to be feeling better soon. I did a few

errands for the 1st time, yesterday. I foolishly tried to bring the groceries in

too quickly and lifted all the soda bottles at once. A big mistake. It brought

back some pretty bad pain but it's doing somewhat better, today.

Wishing all a good day. If anyone has any questions I will try to answer.

Take care,

Jill
