Guest guest
Keeley can I just ask how much your baby weighs? I have a 13 week old and was just wondering, I know I shoudnt compare but I do. mum to baby Liam Update - Baby's first illness Thanks ladies for your quick replies. I didn't want to bother our Doc, but with your encouragement I made the call. The Doc on call is the one we usually see, so that was nice. Much to my surprise, he was really nice and told me I was right to call. Because she has been coughing since Tues. he wanted to start her on Septra and recommended I do CPT 3 times a day. Three times?!? Oh boy, she's gonna love that. She usually cries through at least half the session. We are due for a clinic visit in two weeks and he said we will reculture her sputum then. I'm glad I called! Keeley, mom to Leila, 4 months wcf, and Hadley, 2.5 yrs. nocf

Guest guest
my Liam is 14pd 1 oz, he is only in the 50 percentile for weight. Liam was born at 7 pd 15 oz. My first one was born at 9pd. Are you breast feeding or doing supplement formula. I am breast feeding still and hopefully can carry on for a while. I have just got today some micelle E and A, these are more water soluble types of vitmain A and E. Hopefully these will bring his vitamin levels up a bit. I gave Liam some organic carrot juice the other day on a spoon, it was funny to see it all over his mouth, I didnt realise carrot jiuce stains the skin a bit. He was then sucking on his dummy after that and when I took it out he had this big orange ring aound his mouth. I am going to give him this more often for the beta carotne, I think he even liked it. Does Leila sleep though the night now? Liam sometimes does but not often. Hopefully soon I NEED SOME SLEEP.. LOL. It is excellent that Liela is doing so well, well done. Guest guest
Leila was born full term at 6lb. 14oz. and just had her 4 month well check last week. We were thrilled to see her at the 50th percentile for height (24 inches) and the 80th percentile for weight (15lb. 4 oz.)! Our dietician says we've attained " piggy " status and our GI doc says we get an " A+ " . I hope we can make it last. I figure if I can get her fat, then when she gets sick she'll have a buffer. How big is your Liam? Update - Baby's first illness Thanks ladies for your quick replies. I didn't want to bother our Doc, but with your encouragement I made the call. Guest guest
, Hey, 50th percentile for weight is great! Remember, every kid has a genetic set point for height and weight. Our goal as parents of CF kids is to help them reach their genetic potential, and for some kids that may be small even without CF. But 50th percentile is nothing to sneeze at! Yes, we are breast feeding exclusively. She's never had any formula, but does get some supplements. We are giving the vitamins ADEK's and protein supplements. She gets a 2 oz. bottle of breast milk with 1ml of ADEK and 2 scoops of Promod (protein) in the morning and then again before bed. I give her the bottle then nurse her until satisfied. I also pump a 4-5 oz. bottle in the afternoon and mix in just shy of 1/8th tsp. salt to keep her salt levels up. When she needs the salt she downs this quickly, otherwise she only takes some and then wants to nurse. Getting all the salt into her has been a challenge since we are nursing. I think it would be easy if I were just giving bottles. How are you getting Liam to take salt? Leila does well at night. She nurses around 6:30pm and then goes down, then usually wakes up anywhere from 3-5pm and nurses again but goes back down until about 7:30am. Her sleep has been messed up since she's been sick, but she was great before then. Liam is just coming to that age when he'll start to do better at night. Hang in there and stick with a routine. Also, be sure you're not encouraging him to socialize at night. We feed and go back to bed in the middle of the night but we don't hang out and play.
