I just noticed that my bottle of Gold Bond Lotion (Sensitive Skin

formula) has Dimethicone in it. They list it as " Active Ingredient

Dimethicone 5% " . There are many other ingredients in it.

I personally haven't used GB lotion much - I am better off trying to

stay away from all lotions/topicals. When my face gets dry - I put

water on it and let it air dry. I also take Doxycycline. My face has

improved - but I am still red on my cheeks and nose.

, I was interested in your experience, so I searched out the

ingredients to Gold Bond medicated extra strength body lotion (note

that the ingredients are listed alphabetically):

Active Ingredients: contains: Dimethicone (5 %), Menthol (0.50 %)

Inactive Ingredients: Aloe Vera Gel, Cetyl Alcohol, olidinyl

Urea, Distearlydimonium Chloride, Emulsifying Wax, Fragrance,

Glycerin, Iodopropyl Butylcarbamate, Petrolatum, Stearamidopropyl PG-

dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Steareth-2, Steareth-21, Stearyl

Alcohol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethanolamine, Water

It looks like a protective, moisturizing water-based lotion. It

differs from the regular strength (gold bottle, red cap) by a lower

concentration of menthol (0.15%), and from the sensitive fomulation

(white bottle, red cap) by the absense of menthol and fragrance, and

addition of oatmeal, BHT and paraben preservatives, and propylene

glycol.

I'm not familiar with rosacea on the neck and chest. How was that

diagnosed? The top of the front chest is the most common place for

allergic reactions, so your description of a rash on your neck and

chest -- and success with reaction to Gold Bond out of proportion

there as compared to your face -- makes me wonder if something else

isn't going on there, and if something else coincident with your

using the Gold Bond. Of course I can't know, and the important thing

is that you're doing well.

Have you or others noted a difference between the regular and triple-

strength formulations? In other words, does raising the concentration

of menthol make a difference? How about the sensitive skin

formulation, the one without any menthol?
