Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have a question about constipation. Emma has been constipated for a few months now. Most of the time when she poops, it is little pellets (like 30-50 at a time). We have increase her night feeds so that she gets more fluids but this doesn't seem to have any affect. She pees a whole lot, most nights right through the diaper and continually throughout the day. She was on Lactolase (not sure of the spelling) which helped but after a month, the prescription ended. I hate to put her back on this as I prefer not to make her dependent upon any more medications than she already takes (I know eventually she will be on more but you know what I mean). I would prefer to find a natural method of loosening up her stools. My current idea is to get some prune juice and see if I can get her to drink it, mix it in with some of her food or simply give her a bolus of it once a day. Anyone else ever had this problem. I was told pellets are a sign of dehydration but yet she seems to be peeing so much it just doesn't seem like that is the problem. Thanks, I would appreciate any insight anyone can provide. - mom to Emma 2 years w/cf and Isabelle 4 years old wo/cf ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Guest guest
My son has problems with constipation when he eats too much dairy products, esp. hard cheese (which he loves). We cut back on the dairy and started adding 1 tsp. of citracel to a cup of gatorade each day. It seems to have helped. When he was constipated sometimes he would poop little pellets like you describe but sometimes it would be one big hard log that really hurt him (sorry to be so descriptive).
