I went on the Minocycline to reduce the redness in my cheeks. I had the

cea, what I meant by clear was that I didn't have acne, and now after

being on Minocycline for a while, I do :(

If a derm can just look at something and diagnose it, does that mean I

should trust his " because it wouldnt look like that " answer? He was the one

who told me I have Seb Derm (which Pitysprorum Ovale problem plays a role

in). Also told by the second derm that the acne I have is follicular acne,

something about how deep down it is and where its located... (Follicular

acne is common w/longterm minocycline use either as gram - folliculitus or

pitysprorum folliculitus). Fungus under the fingernails has to be some kind

of fungus/yeast (it tested positive for fungus when cultured). Neither derm

has seen the rashes that come/go when I shower cuz they are gone 15 mins

after a shower, and so, are not visible at my appointment. The " ringworm "

then " eczema " on my arm they just didnt seem to have any real clue about

until it mysteriously went away. I cant figure out what they are seeing

that makes them rule out a yeast problem without even looking into it. Does

antibiotic-caused Seb Derm look different than non-antibiotic-caused Seb

Derm? I can't believe it would look any different... I mean.. I would be

more than happy to listen to " because it wouldnt look like that " , if he was

able to tell me something that would look like that.

You're right about what you said, but unfortunately I didn't know any of

this until after the fact. I try to take acidophilus whenever I can.. but

I've read that acidophilus once its been taken outta the system can't take

hold in it again if the system has already been messed up, until the system

gets fixed (in my case, until antibiotics were stopped)

Hello All

I've been on minocycline for nearly one month ( I had been on Erythromicin

for 3 months, but this had not produced the anti-inflammatory effect my derm.

was wanting to help with the flushing). Already my skin is worse that when I

started - my forehead is covered in tiny little spots - someone even

mentioned it yesterday - I've never had that in ten years of acne problems!

Thde upshot is, I've decided to stop taking the anti-biotics. They did

nothing for the flushing anyway, and my derm said he would try beta-blockers

next. I feel a bit guilty about stopping the prescription, but it just seems

silly to carry on when I can see my skin getting worse and not better. Just

some thoughts....

Simon
