She just laughed and said okay you have my support..be honest and up front and tell them how you feel.if they can't support you then just say nothing. wish i could be of more help but thats it girl..you will get plenty of advice just hang in there.. Guest guest
Zoey, That is the wierd thing. They both end their conversations with... " of course you know we will support you whatever you decide " . I said I had decided and then I get the well, you should try this while you are waiting for approval and maybe you will lose enough to change your mind and decide not too. I just told my boss that I was going to go to the gym like we had discussed while I was waiting mostly because I needed to establish that habit no matter what but that at 355# I could not do much there. We ended it there. I guess with time she may be more accepting. Thanks again! Georgia

My parents were dead set against the surgery until this past week-end ,they read a very small article in the news paper about the surgery and the doctors were supporting peoples decisions, to have it, I can't believe that small artical changed their minds I have reseached this surgery for almost 1 year and they still thought I was nuts, So I guess in the long run it turned out ok but even if they don't approve I will still do what I have to do it's really our own personal dicision, Good luck to you , Suzi To: MiniGastricBypass (AT) e MiniGastricBypass (AT) e> Date: Wednesday, June 21, 2000 7:53 PM Subject: Exhaustion.... >I have a question for the everyone here. >Did any of you have a hard time with people you know trying to talk >you out of the surgery after you have taken all this time to do the >homework and are waiting for approval? > >One of my friends and I know she means well says to me " can't you >just >try really dieting and exercising one moretime? Guest guest
Don't worry Joanne. I heard that too. My surgery was Jan 10, 2000 and I've never had a problem with dumping. Haven't had one experience with it yet and am still waiting to dump!!! lol I don't think you will have one unless you load up on too much sugar and I can't imagine doing that as your desire for sweets goes completely away, almost! I eat about one cookie and I'm very done. Before surgery I use to sneak out and buy a can of Chocolate frosting and eat the whole can!! So you can see I've come a long way baby!! Have your surgery and deal with the critics later. They'll be glad to wait. in Missouri down 82 lbs.

Guest guest
Georgia, my sister, after having 6 kids and 2 grandkids, went back to school and just graduated from nursing school and she is being a real pain about the surgery. I spoke with her last night and it was, " Have you heard about dumping syndrome " , and this and that!!!!! I think sort of like a reformed smoker!!! The rest of the family is pretty supportive - nervous about the whole thing but overall doing very well!!! This sister, finally said, " Well its your life " and she is right and I choose to have this surgery to make it a better one!!! Guest guest
I agree it is my life and I alone cane really make this decision. What I was struggling with last night was my need to make everyone else happy at my own expense. I usually do this! I realized today I have to make me happy. I am working on that first!! Guest guest
Georgia - I think almost all fat people try to make everyone else happy!!! We are sooo conditioned by society that if we are fat that no one will like us that we overcompensate and try to make everyone happy!!! Hopefully this surgery will cure that - we need to be number one for a while!!!
