Guest guest
, I just asked my new derm # 5, i think, if I was a good candidate for the laser. I to have moderate to mild redness but uncontrollable swelling and it is progressing. She told me i wasnt bad enough. How bad do you have to be? I want to stop it before it gets bad. Go figure. In his book, Dr. Nase recommends treatment in the early stages to prevent it from getting worse...yet how are we supposed to prevent anything if the laser doctors aren't even willing to treat us?? (and this is to assume that topicals etc. aren't helping..) Basically right now i have a mild pinkness on my cheeks chin and forehead and my nose now too..after a humid hot wave last week i was flushing for probably 2 or 3 days straight and afterwards ive had a pretty bad nose flush every day since and its almost always pink now. in certain lighting u cant tell the pinkness is there cuz my skintone is pale yellow ...but in natural light its very obvious. ive scheduled an appointment with a holistic derm and am gonna try to see if anything he prescribes can help control the redness as well as the flushing (which for me is almost as much spontaneous flushing as it is trigger-induced flushing, so that kind of makes me wonder whehter drugs such as clonidine will help.) i tried nasalcrom for my nose but it doesn't seem to be having much of an effect...i have a few pimples too and overall skin tone is very poor now. (dry flaky etc) oh well, as always, any advice is welcome. i have one more week of school left and plan to make use of my next 4 months getting this rosacea under control. i feel like if theres a time to puruse laser, this is it, since during school there's no way i can " hide " post-laser and recuperate without letting the world see! right now i am looking into photoderm as well as vbeam....i saw one picture of the purpura caused from pulse dye laser and almost had a heart attack so i'm not sure if i'll consider PDL..i believe the picture was on cosmetixlaser.com. so far, at the top of my to-do list after seeing my regular derm and my new holistic derm is to buy an aloe vera plant =) figure it cant hurt,as i havent reacted negatively to aloe in the past. i also got blood tested for a bunch of problems including irritable bowel syndrome, hyperthyroidism, lupus, ANA, chem screen, H Pylori, and a few others and my doc said they all came back negative. this disease is soooo frustrating. !!!!! it's embarrassing to have my face changing in front of my friends..i only wish i got this when i was older..i think i could deal with it much better if i were 30 than 19. sorry i always end up venting on this board but there's no one else to complain to except my poor parents who are probably as stressed out about this as i am.
